Activities Specialist - CAFE Support

At the Corner Clubhouse, we encourage vocation, education, training and support to all those who become members through Self Help, Pre-Vocational Training, Vocational Rehabilitation and Social Rehabilitation.

General Description

Work with the Café Supervisor to provide organization, leadership and training for clubhouse members in the Clubhouse Café.  Assist with administration of the functions of the Café Department including maintenance, scheduling, purchasing supplies, etc. This position is responsible for shopping, inventory, and general cafe upkeep while maintaining accurate record keeping for both financial and inventory requirements.

Provide support on all Café activities. Work to maintain a calm and functional kitchen. Responsibilities include training individuals and groups in food safety and safe use of cooking tools and equipment as well as instructing members in food service and cooking skills. Organize and facilitate Food Handlers Training classes, Culinary Arts classes, and cashiering classes. Develop and facilitate nutrition training, both individually and in groups.

Motivate members to improve their health and nutrition. Provide support to members and staff when difficult situations occur in the kitchen. Work together as a team with the Café Supervisor and Vocational Coach to develop health related assessments to help members move toward competitive employment. Work closely with Employment Specialist and Job Developer.

Qualifications/Skills Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalency. Valid Food Service Certificate.  Valid Driver's License. Transportation required for purpose of purchasing and transporting items from stores to clubhouse. 3 years food service and/or nutrition program experience required. Coaching experience preferred.  Intermediate computer skills in Outlook, Word and Excel preferred. Paraprofessional Orientation and Training within 90 days of hire.
